Your initial visit will include an oral cancer screening, evaluation of teeth and soft tissue, and a TMJ, muscle, and bite screening. If a problem is discovered, Dr. Harper may suggest a more comprehensive look at the problem followed by a consultation. Periodontal Disease (gum disease) begin without warning It attacks teeth and gum silently, and painlessly. In early stages the disease causes gums to be sore, bleed easily, and contribute to bad breath. As it progresses, teeth loosen and can eventually be lost. The health of your gums is vitally important to your overall oral health. Recent medical studies reveal a correlation between heart discase and periodontal disease. Dr. Harper incorporates a careful regime of gum evaluation into each visit. If any indication of gum disease exists, Dr. Harper will discuss recommended treatment with you. He and his staff are highly-trained to treat gum disease non-surgically to restore them back to a healthy state.

Dr. George W. Harper DDS, FAGD
Dr. Harper is a 1988 graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry, He continued his dental education further in the area of Occlusal and Joint Therapy (TMJ) at the Center For Advanced Dental Studies (St. Petersburg, Florida), as well as continuing classes at the nationally renowned Pankey Institute (Key Biscayne, FL), He has also completed advanced training in Cosmetic and Restorative dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute For Advanced Dentistry (Las Vegas, NV). He is attending the Schuster Center for Professional Development in Scottsdale, AZ focusing on office systems and patient relations. Dr. Harper returned to St. Petersburg, FL to attend The Piper Institute for additional classes to help further his knowledge in treating TMD or true joint problems. In 2011 Dr. Harper received the Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry in San Diego, CA. The requirements to obtain the award are 500+ hours in continuing education and to pass a comprehensive examination in 16 different disciplines of dentistry.
